Third Island

Third Island Happening exhibition by Nikita Spiridonov • “The Third Island” is an experience of collective creative action, based on the context of the history of the construction of the Moscow-Volga Canal by civilians and prisoners: “canal army men”. • “The Third Island” is a manifesto of the returned politicization of togetherness: a collective effort in which the end does not justify the means. • The collective in “The Third Island” is a repressed political imaginary, understood through the form of reenactment: re-living the traumatic past. • “The Third Island” is a projection of the construction of a future society, based on the strategy of shifting the periphery of the periphery: inside the dichotomous link of the Kapustin Center for Contemporary Art and the escapist island of Nega.
