Let's talk about birds

Curator Olga Bozhko "Let's talk about birds", O. Nega, 13.07 The rooks have arrived. And for a long time (not to mention Savrasov's painting, painted in 1871). In connection with the onset of summer and the migration of birds to our northern latitudes, we invite artists to speculate on the topic of winged and feathered. The science that studies birds is called ornithology. Ornithologists do not investigate the fireproof Phoenix, the superhero of Slavic folklore Finist the clear falcon, as well as the black swan, the gargoyles of Notre Dame, angels and archangels, sirens, who seduced Odysseus and his team, despite the fact that these creatures are obviously winged. Ornithologists also do not ask etymological, philosophical and other questions, such as whether eggs teach a chicken, they do not comment on the maxim "A chicken is not a bird, Bulgaria is not abroad," they do not comment on the popular opinion that, they say, "God's bird knows neither care nor labor." Experts in this field also take beyond the scope of professional discussion the issue of "birds" (✓, ✔, ☑), which is relevant for bureaucrats and managers of lower and middle levels, in other words, ticks — a sign indicating consent, inclusion or accounting (or jackdaws, which are real birds, order: sparrow-like, family: vranov, genus crows). We hope that the artists will work out some issues that have not been touched upon by ornithologists, which are directly or indirectly related to birds. We wish inspiration to spread its wings over you, and we look forward to seeing your work on this feather-light topic. Text: Alexey Andreev
